For my Sister Teresa’s 50th wedding anniversary Italian Holiday; I thought to begin her Rome experience at the very luxurious La Pergola Ristorante atop the very hotel where we are staying The sumptuous Rome Cavalieri – A Waldorf=Astoria Collection. From the moment we arrived at the restaurant we were immediately greeted by a team of people escorting us to our large table for four complete with a special yellow flower variety arrangement. Each seat had a small cushioned table next to it; gently placed there for holding the ladies handbags. Our window table offered incredible night views of all of Rome with the Vatican and various monument illuminated and sparkling the Eternal City’s skyline.
La Pergola has been consistently rated No. 1 Restaurant in all of Rome and probably all of Italy; earning 3 Michelin stars consecutively for several years. The Restaurant boasts an incredible wine cellar and list which I read thoroughly with more than 53,000 bottles in its collection. They have thought of everything here; a special water menu featuring more than 29 different varieties of water. Throughout the evening several courses were served some sent directly by the most fabulously talented Chef Heinz Beck. There is even a “salt course” featuring six different varieties of salts! The food is remarkable; the service is nothing short of pampering and the view is breathtaking. If you are going to splurge at least once in your life or one evening of your trip; this is the place and its well worth it!!

Among the many treats and surprises sent to us by The Chef; with Coffee appeared this silver cabinet of drawyers each filled with a little delectable sweet and surprises!!
I applaud and salute this most fabulously talented Chef for consistently providing this award winning restaurant the most innovative and delectable cuisine!! Thank you very much Chef Heinz Beck: It was a stupendous evening!!

It’s fantastic to see Chef Heinz Beck, a German Chef, maintaining the bar that high after all these years, and right in Rome. I am sure he cooks like an Italian
