Another great weekend getaway recommendation from NYC is the great Adirondacks and Lake George region.  Today I will drive due North on I-87 approximately 3 1/2 – 4 hours to the beautiful Lake George region.  While there I will stay at the very lovely and historic Sagamore Resort.  The Sagamore has been welcoming guests for more than 100 years is ideally located on a little island connected by a short bridge causeway in the lovely Bolton Landing area of Lake George.   The strategic location offers spectacular views of the Lake and Adirondack mountain region all around.  It is also much more tranquil and quiet; removed from the more touristy centre of Lake George Village.   It is a very easy drive from NYC basically taking the NY Thruway due North to Albany and then continuing on I-87 towards the Canadian border.  If time permits I suggest taking the exit to Lake George Village and then following Rte 9N along the lake with beautiful views as you approach Bolton Landing and the spectacular Sagamore Resort.

The Sagamore Resort offers a wide assortment of accommodations with more than 150 rooms and approximately 54 suites from their main historic building to their lodges which are scattered throughout the property.   All are decorated in very comfortable furnishing with an Adirondack theme.   Of course prime accommodations offer spectacular views of Lake George.

In addition to extensive dining facilities, swimming pools, a Spa and Fitness Center; The Sagamore offers several possibilities to explore Lake George: Fishing, Boating, Kayaking, Paddling and sightseeing cruises along the scenic Lake.

I am looking forward to returning to this region and The Sagamore Resort this weekend.  Interesting enough I just realized that this was probably the location of my very first trip when I was about 2 years.  My parents visited this area often as my Mother’s family had vacation homes in the area.
