Orchids Restaurant at The Halekulani is a sumptuous treat and delight: A taste of Hawaiian local cuisine, Pan Asian, some classic items as well as a very subtle hint of the expert Executive Chef Vikram Garg’s native India.
I was able to sample one of the signature dishes: Onaga Orchids Style; delicately prepared and balanced fresh long tail snapper cooked gently with shitake mushrooms, green onions, sizzling sesame oil and soy. Just fantastic! Other classic Hawaiian dishes to sample are the homemade moi, Big Eye Ahi, Opakapaka, among others. The various rooms, depending on your choice of tables, two outdoor areas, indoor as well as a semi private atrium, all tables and surroundings are lavished with orchids. The view from the outdoor terrace is the classic panoramic postcard scene; Waikiki Beach with Diamond Head in the background!!
